Alain E @AlainE Jan 2 This is an excellent social satire with a strong Marxist viewpoint. Maybe that explains the negative reviews for a movie with a solid story, good acting and excellent cinematography. An upper middle class American couple in Paris (with shaky finances) is giving a modest dinner for twelve when suddenly the man’s son from a previous engagement appears unannounced. The Madame is very open minded but under no circumstances will have thirteen on her table. She urgently recruits her Spanish immigrant head maid, who is presented as member of a Spanish glorious family. One of the attendees falls immediately in love and starts a whirlwind romance. Will amor overcome the social conventions? You need to watch the movie on Prime to find out. The story suffered from severe schizophrenia with unfinished characters, unnecessary scenes and subplots that never seem to cohesively come together.
