Audience Member It's magnifent. Everything about it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/06/24 Full Review Gavin C Once you get past the cutesie animation of the characters (which is nicely drawn btw ) you’ll realize this is far from a cutie/nice anime. This is filled with dark themes, torture of children, mutilation and much much more. Went back to watch the show, and am now hooked on it. At times it’s a slow burn, like the show, but once the adult theme kick in then it’s a crazy ride. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/28/24 Full Review Andres S Overall, I thought Dawn of the Deep Soul was a great continuation to the first season. This movie expanded on the ever-growing world. It added excellent and fascinating world-building. There was good character development and of course masterful storytelling. The animations and art for Reg's dark form were sick. The fight between him and Bondrewd was insanely well done, the animations were off the charts. It looked incredible. The series gets sadder, darker and more messed up in this movie. Like how Bondrewd was basically killing, processing and compacting children's bodies into cartridges so that he could use them as energy. The whole child experimentation/torture theme in the show is really dark and disturbing, and quite disgusting really. But it doesn't go without saying that there's also beautiful and moving moments as well. Like Bondrewd giving Prushka a chance at living a "normal" life. And also Prushka turning herself into Riko's new white whistle. That moment definitely made me tear up. That was amazing to watch. Unfortunately, the downside of this anime series is that the creator feels the need to have to insert his weird fetishes/fantasies into the mix. This movie was when it dawned on me that the creator might be into kids. It was the moment when Prushka mentioned "Papa pole" and also the tube scene when they were torturing Reg. That was the moment the red flag went up. I just don't see why there's a need to have to add all this unnecessary fan service when it doesn't even add or have anything to do with the story. It's even more unsettling when you take into account that the creator is a lolicon. The odd fetishistic nature of the show is something that's hard to brush off and ignore. It doesn't happen too frequently and it's not graphic, but it's definitely hard not to notice and find it weird. It pulls you out of the immersion of the world and it doesn't add to the story, and this is the problem.
