Hank Sartin Time Out Rated: 3/5 Nov 18, 2011 Full Review Edward Porter Times (UK) I'd have preferred Laperrousaz to give more information about the music's history. And fans will probably find the film's performance clips annoyingly short. Rated: 3/5 Oct 30, 2009 Full Review Anna Smith Empire Magazine Shapeless in form but with the characters and talent on display, this is hardly important. Rated: 2/5 Oct 23, 2009 Full Review Philip French Observer (UK) One suspects the film-makers have deliberately excluded numbers of a homophobic nature. Oct 30, 2009 Full Review Jon Fortgang Film4 Some great performances and a raw taste of life on the streets of Jamaica, but too ragged and rambling to explain why this music matters. Rated: 2/5 Oct 23, 2009 Full Review Carmen Gray Total Film The haphazard structure chafes against its gritty aspirations. Rated: 3/5 Oct 23, 2009 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member It was very interesting!! I wanna get to know the history, the religion, the spirit, the culture, and the artist in Jamaica more. Gregory Isaacs,Capleton,Dr. Marshall,Bunny Wailer... Bounty Killer and Vybz Kartel were doing shooting together!! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Mike M A diverting jumble that reflects a certain confusion of styles and themes... There are at least two gross editorial lapses here: firstly, a series of encounters with a beautiful young woman who turns out to be a stripper - whose sole function within the film is to drape herself over an embarrassed-looking Gregory Isaacs; secondly, the director's failure to confront Elephant Man on the issue of the homophobia and sexism that proliferates in his lyrics. The scene seems a model of rude musical health, but while Laperrousaz has a high old time at the party, he doesn't concern himself overly with what happens the morning after.
