Andrea Beach Common Sense Media This is a quirky, gentle coming-of-age story that will foster empathy and understanding of neurodivergence, especially synesthesia. Rated: 3/5 Sep 7, 2025 Full Review Tim Brennan About Boulder For every comedy moment, there’s a quieter moment where we see how Maggie views the world for good or ill. Those moments feature lovely animation that’s so deliberately chosen, we intuitively understand what Maggie is feeling and experiencing. Aug 26, 2025 Full Review Daniel M. Kimmel North Shore Movies MAGNETOSPHERE is a coming-of-age story, but not quite like one you’ve seen before. You see, Maggie has synesthesia. Maggie has been keeping this a secret which makes it all the more awkward. Rated: 3/5 Aug 24, 2025 Full Review Christopher Lloyd The Film Yap A quirky and sensitive coming-of-age tale about a teen girl struggling to adapt to life in a new town -- with the added pressure of seeing lights and colors where no one else does. Rated: 3.5/5 Jul 30, 2025 Full Review Nick Bythrow Screen Rant Magnetosphere is a coming-of-age story boasting creative charm thanks to an endearing premise, fantastic performances, and memorable messages. Rated: 8/10 Jul 30, 2025 Full Review Jim Laczkowski Director's Club Nicola Rose uses Maggie's unique perception as a metaphor for the teenage experience of feeling like an outsider. Even if you don't share the condition, you'll be able to connect to her particular struggle and the trepidation she experiences among peers. Rated: 3.5/5 Jul 27, 2025 Full Review Read all reviews

Matthew Z This is a powerful and honest movie that explores a really personal neurodivergent journey without trivializing it or pandering. I thought that the cast was really and balanced the humor and emotional beats with authenticity. It's a great film to share with the neurodivergent people in your life (or if you just like awesome light/sound editing). Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/05/25 Full Review Melanie B I just learned this year that I have synesthesia, and Maggie's story made me feel seen. The coming-of-age aspects are on point and accurate to the time the story is set. The characters' stories are subtly and sensitively rendered, and the visuals are gorgeous. Highly recommended! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/01/25 Full Review Ab L In this thoughtful, provoking and funny movie, you "see" the world through technicolor glasses. The emotional, dramatic moments are balanced by some great, occasionally slightly dark, comedy. A strong cast, performing a strong story, given character-centered direction all make a relatively unknown condition very relatable. Teen angst, family dynamics, and neighborhood hijinks are a worthy combination. Break out the popcorn and prepare to have a great movie night. (Buy extra popcorn; you'll want to watch it again.) Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/14/25 Full Review Audience Member "Magnetosphere is a warm, funny, and visually creative reminder that the things that make us different are often the things that make us shine. If you’ve ever felt like the world was tuned to a frequency only you could hear, this movie will feel like home." Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/13/25 Full Review Charlie H At it's core, Magnetosphere is a sweet coming-of-age film. But there are so many layers that it's easy to relate to Maggie, the main character. The family tending, the first big crush, the "best" friend, the mean girls, the caring teacher, and yes, the infuriatingly loveable sibling... it's all there. What truly sets this apart, though, is Maggie's experience of synesthesia, a rare and fascinating condition that allows her to experience sounds as colors and textures. The film doesn't portray this as a burden, though; rather, it's presented with wonder and empathy. The audience is warmly welcomed into Maggie's unique perspective. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/13/25 Full Review Grant H An excellent, uplifting film about coming of age, neurodiversity, family, and first love. The casting is excellent, with quirky, authentic characters. I loved seeing the world through Maggie's eyes. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/12/25 Full Review Read all reviews
