For every comedy moment, there’s a quieter moment where we see how Maggie views the world for good or ill. Those moments feature lovely animation that’s so deliberately chosen, we intuitively understand what Maggie is feeling and experiencing. Go to Full Review

MAGNETOSPHERE is a coming-of-age story, but not quite like one you’ve seen before. You see, Maggie has synesthesia. Maggie has been keeping this a secret which makes it all the more awkward. Go to Full Review

Amanda L 4d It’s not often that we have the ability to personify the energetic fields that are the deepest and most powerful parts of our being. This ebullient and bittersweet story by the incomparable Nicola Rose follows a neurodivergent teen, Maggie, and her journey to realising the indescribable yet captivating process of letting others into your life--no matter how insecure or messy we feel. Like her debut feature, "Goodbye, Petrushka, the story world is comprised of a unique cast of characters that pull us in with wit and vulnerability. The dialogue is both reverent and hysterical, and it serves as a delightful sidekick to the spot-on visual and special effects this auteur director employs very successfully. She does not shy away from keeping life’s most courageous moments as they are: bold, heartbreaking, and necessary. A wonderful film for all ages. See more Neurodivergent R Oct 20 "Magnetosphere" is a captivating and creative tale that portrays synesthesia through a NeuroDiversity-affirming lens. The movie gives viewers a chance to see the world through Maggie's eyes (a synesthete who experiences a world where sounds have vibrant colors and emotions take on unique shapes). It is a heartwarming and funny family-friendly coming-of-age story. The characters in the film are relatable and easy to connect with. If you've ever felt a bit out of sync with the world, this movie wraps around you like a comforting hug. See more NoBS B Sep 30 The concept was good, as opportunities to broaden a viewer’s understanding and awareness of differences is a good thing. Unfortunately, the writing was not great and some of the acting was stilted and not believable. It reminded me a bit of a 70’s series like Brady bunch See more Matthew Z Sep 5 This is a powerful and honest movie that explores a really personal neurodivergent journey without trivializing it or pandering. I thought that the cast was really and balanced the humor and emotional beats with authenticity. It's a great film to share with the neurodivergent people in your life (or if you just like awesome light/sound editing). See more Melanie B Sep 1 I just learned this year that I have synesthesia, and Maggie's story made me feel seen. The coming-of-age aspects are on point and accurate to the time the story is set. The characters' stories are subtly and sensitively rendered, and the visuals are gorgeous. Highly recommended! See more Ab L Aug 14 In this thoughtful, provoking and funny movie, you "see" the world through technicolor glasses. The emotional, dramatic moments are balanced by some great, occasionally slightly dark, comedy. A strong cast, performing a strong story, given character-centered direction all make a relatively unknown condition very relatable. Teen angst, family dynamics, and neighborhood hijinks are a worthy combination. Break out the popcorn and prepare to have a great movie night. (Buy extra popcorn; you'll want to watch it again.)
