Steve D Not a shred of truth to it and not convincing as a stand alone drama. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 06/02/23 Full Review Audience Member I thought the casting was good. Storyline was solid. Costume design was tops too. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member A frustrating movie because of what events it chooses to depict in Dolley's life. The romantic triangle is just tedious and feels off, mostly because of David Niven as Burr. Not only does he feel extremely miscast, but the characterization is totally off. Yes, he was a shady guy ultimately, but the dialogue they have him spouting is just so mustache-twirling wrong. Also Ginger's Dolley never gets to be presented as a strong woman or show as to why so many were charmed by her fire and intelligence. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member There's a fair amount of American post-revolutionary politics to keep up with in this biography of the future First Lady Dolley Madison, but there's plenty of romantic triangles all centering around Ginger Rogers who hardly misses a scene in this one. This is her second outing with David Niven and it's all drama instead of the comedy this time around but they still make a good job of it, although Burgess Meredith gets plenty of airtime with her too in this one. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member it might not as magnificent as "Mr. smith goes to Washington" or as perfect as its tittle, but still it's something historical (thou not 100% accurate also), soo,, overall i like it and it's worth to watch :) Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
