Eight-year-old Tom (Jules Angelo Bigarnet) lost his mom (Julianne Loucq) five years earlier when she died in an avalanche in the French Alps. Tom's neglectful dad, Pierre (Clovis Cornillac), leaves the boy with grandfather Gaspard (Jacques Villeret) in the Alps. There, Tom copes with loss, bonds with his teacher, Valentine (Michèle Laroque), and makes friends with fellow youngster Benoit (Damien Jouillerot). Together, the boys explore the wreckage of the Malabar Princess, a downed airplane.
