Kim Newman Empire Magazine Genuinely original interpretation of the Brit gangster and Lewis Carroll's surreal tale. Rated: 3/5 Feb 5, 2010 Full Review David Jenkins Time Out Quite apart from the fact that it mistakes sexism and homophobia for sardonic liberal rib-tickling, even at 80 minutes, the film feels like a brash, crass and boneheaded music promo that's been stretched to breaking point. Rated: 1/5 Feb 5, 2010 Full Review Wendy Ide Times (UK) Despite a certain visual flair, Malice in Wonderland just isn't very good. The screenplay is the main problem - it's just too flat and unimaginative to justify the larger-than- life cartoon characters that populate the movie. Rated: 1/5 Feb 5, 2010 Full Review Philip Martin Arkansas Democrat-Gazette While you might expect a cheap quickie designed to cash in on the Tim Burton feature ... Malice in Wonderland is actually an honest and at times intriguing updating of the classic set in modern times, in the cockney underworld of South London. Rated: 83/100 May 15, 2010 Full Review Film4 Staff Film4 Malice In Wonderland does little to remind you of the performances that once had critics and even the late great Harold Pinter crowing about his talent as [Dyer] started out on the West End stage. Rated: 2/5 Feb 5, 2010 Full Review Jeremy Aspinall Radio Times Alice's adventures lose something in their contemporary translation, and there is very little to care about. It's nicely shot, though, in the style of a 1980s music video. Rated: 2/5 Feb 5, 2010 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Based on the description it sounds like an intriguing concept. It does a decent job with the look that one would expect from a film fitting the title and description. I have no idea of how the source material goes, other than some of the characters, so I can't say how close this spin on ‘Alice in Wonderland' is. Could have used more malice. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member A very confusing but a quite interesting movie with deep lesson hiding inside it. Something you need to watch! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review indie a It's an odd movie, disjointed, based on Alice in Wonderland books. I recommend it for those who like the odd movie. The writing may be disjointed (but then Alice in Wonderland is a fantastical, disjointed story), but the actors are first rate and go all in for their characters. They are excellent and a joy to watch. Matt King as Gonzo is spectacularly bad, Whitey the rabbit is the centerpiece character along w/Alice. The weakest is Alice, a typical, bland performance turned in by the typical pretty young woman. That character could have been done so much better. Pam Ferris is one of the oddball characters and does her character justice. Felix, the Cheshire Cat, played by Gary Beadle, plays the cat as the wiley creature he is, with the smooth voice we've come to know for the cat. This film is interesting to watch for the creative sets, the fantasy world it creates, the human representations of the book's characters, and the acting performances (looks like the actors had fun with their roles). Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Superbly twiated, hilariously funny... not for the pc snowflakes however Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Basically, this is a quirky take on Alice in Wonderland. But, for me. personally, it perfectly depicts the surreal world that actually exists between dusk and dawn that I spent so much time in back in my younger days. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review james b well i guess the end wraps it all up and gives it some meaning, iv never read alice in wonderland or seen the film but this malice in wonderland is pretty bonkers. with its terrible R.T. rating most would avoid this but let me ask you something where would you find matt king aka super hans from peep show and paul kaye aka dennis pennis aka mike strutter aka fuckin frankie wild fron its all gone pete tong and danny dyer aka well danny dyer in the same movie, nowhere thats where well except hear. matt king was fine as gonzo prob. one of the more normal characters in this film, paul kaye as a white rastafarian who speaks in rhyme wasnt great and he only had a tiny part shame, danny dyer as whitey the time obsessed taxi man was great. the movie is a bit differnt to the norm and in that sense worth a viewing but dont expect anything too special like a rabbit out a hat that can speak german.
