MALUM is a bold and expanded reimagining of the 2014 horror cult classic, LAST SHIFT. On a search to uncover the mysterious circumstances surrounding her father's death, a newly appointed police officer, Jessica Loren (Jessica Sula) is assigned to the last shift in a decommissioned police station where a notoriously vicious cult saw their demise years prior. The lone officer at the station, she soon finds herself barraged by terrifying paranormal events, and in the process, is taken on a journey during which she learns the shocking truth behind her family's entanglement with a demented cult leader. I liked the new theatric feeling, higher quality resolution, and bigger budget. But it failed to deliver many scary scenes. They had room for more creepy scenes and the antagonist didn't look as scary as in the original.

I went into this blind. All I saw was the trailer & knew it was a remake type movie of the Last Shift. Trailer didn't even look that good. So went in with low expectations. This will go down as a highly underrated movie sadly. Theater was pretty empty. The opening & ending was shocking. I'd say this is more of a psychological horror rather than a straight up horror. Only a few jump scares but you could tell when it was going to be one of you watch horror movies at all. It was creepy, had Silent Hill & Outlast vibes. If you've played those you know the feel. I will buy this on Blu-ray when it comes out.
