David Cornelius eFilmCritic.com Man About Town is frustratingly manic in its tone... the unevenness wears too thin too quickly. Rated: 2/5 Apr 2, 2007 Full Review Scott Weinberg DVD Clinic Binder's made some really fine movies and some curiously weak ones; my opinion is that this one falls firmly in the latter group. Rated: 2.5/5 Mar 1, 2007 Full Review Brian Orndorf DVDTalk.com How dense is Binder? He uses an acoustic version of Our Lips Are Sealed to underscore a tender moment Jack recalls from his childhood. Because nothing says 1976 quite like an iconic song from 1981. Rated: D Feb 14, 2007 Full Review Christopher Null Filmcritic.com has enough of a sense of humor to overcome the Affleck-induced malaise that you might otherwise be expecting Rated: 3/5 Feb 13, 2007 Full Review David Nusair Reel Film Reviews ...Binder's reliance on increasingly melodramatic elements effectively negates the film's few positive attributes... Audience Member After a half hour (which felt like 1.5 hours) I felt like I committed too much time to not watch the ending. Do yourself a favor & don't start. The characters are shallow, not interesting, & I didn't even care what happened to them in the end. The only thing I liked about the movie was discovering the song "Red States" by Fredo Viola. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member It truly is junk. I made the mistake of giving a second chance halfway through, and ended seeing all of it. An hour and a half of my life wasted. Abysmally stupid and pointless. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review adam b A suprise charming film that weirded me out to the brink of me actually liking the film, although it ended generically. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Don't waste your time. If an introspective, 'woe-is-me' melodrama and a French slapstick comedy had a head-on collision, the wreckage would look just like this. It's all over the place. Sometimes it's about a successful man who's sad because his wife cheats...and then suddenly he's wearing BIG fake teeth. If that's not bad enough, Bai Ling is in it. She has dialog. That never goes well. It's no surprise that this went straight to DVD. Those DVD's probably went straight to the bargain bin. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Frances H Not stir-fire exciting, but a good object lesson about getting too caught up in the rat race. John Cleese is always good. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 12/11/14 Full Review Audience Member Jack slowly begins to suspect that something is missing from his glitz and glamour life. After enrolling in a journal-writing class in hopes of gaining a deeper understanding of his feelings, the man who has it all is shocked to learn that his wife Nina (Rebecca Romijn) has entered into a heated affair with his biggest client. Though at first Jack takes solace in the fact that he is able to express his inner pain through his writing, his entire future is brought into question when ambitious journalist Barbi (Bai Ling) steals his diary in hopes of landing the year's biggest scoop. Not only does the diary contain sensitive personal information, but crucial information about his high-profile clients as well. Now, as Jack fights against insurmountable odds just to hold his life together, the man who once placed priority on power and material possessions realizes that the only path to true happiness is by spending precious time with family.
