Super-patriot Sgt. Duke Roscoe (Gary Kroeger) and his unit of bumbling but gung-ho grunts are determined to destroy the Third Reich in this spoof of World War II movies. Charged with an all-important mission that could be the turning point in the war, the wacky soldiers journey across the blazing sands of North Africa to do their duty. With a stereotypically evil Nazi commander, Von Kraut (Marc Singer), determined to stop them in their tracks, it won't be easy -- but it's sure to be a blast.

Audience Member Got through 3 mins of it, that's all it took to give it this rating. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie was hysterical! This is like the American version of Monty Python. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member The film is surprisingly good for one so hard to find. The humor is quick and pointed; the good joke stick with the viewer, and the poor ones are quickly forgotten. Forsaking "current" pop-culture references makes this film as funny today as it was in 1990. As the narrator says, it is "Not a particularly good movie, but a darn good way to kill 90 minutes." Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member A Man Called Sarge is a screwball comedy in the same vein as movies like Airplane, The Naked Gun or The Big Bus (I bet you haven't watched that movie either). It's dumb fun and nothing more. The jokes are every 5 seconds and seem to take over the movie more than a plot and a point. Basically the point here is to leave your brain at the door but not your sense of humor. It does have some good points though. 1) The actors seem to play the parody part well and don't give in too much to over-acting. It's one large skit comedy ala Mad TV and the actors don't attempt at anything more than that. 2) It's a short movie and it does go by quickly. The movie never lingers too much on a single scene nor does it throw the same joke in your face until you are forced to laugh. 3) Marc Singer is worth the price of admission alone. His performance is wacky but significant to the dynamics of the movie. I don't think the movie would have been half as enjoyable if it wasn't for Marc Singer. The jokes may be juvenile, the plot missing, the point, pointless, but it's still worth renting so you can ask, "Have you seen A Man Called Sarge?". However, I recommend more The Big Bus which is funnier and better. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Read all reviews
