Deke P 1953, 100% rating from RT crits! starring GLENN FORD, + 'all star cast' of HUGH O'BRIAN, CHILLy WILLy, NEVILLE BRAND!, GUY WILLIAMS (Zorro!), & Victor JORY. Ford as man who was living down the rep cuz he left early from the Alamo to save his family from death. Had a good vibe, not hokey. So giving it 3 & 1/2 RT stars,= 'Good, i rec". Never heardo til saw a lot of it on TV 5.27.23. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/28/23 Full Review Audience Member This is one of the best western films that I have seen. Most western movies I've seen lack good action scenes, but this movie has excellent action sequences and plenty of them throughout the ideal running time of 1 hour and 19 minutes. The scenery in the movie is spectacular. As far as I can tell there aren't any fake backgrounds. Out of all of the Glenn Ford movies that I have seen I think he is at his best playing John Stroud in this movie. Julia Adams is of course excellent as the leading lady in this film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Fast moving, colorful Boetticher western--Branded!! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Very good b-Western with the the reliable Glenn Ford Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Amiable western that satisfies. All the usual themes associated with the classic genre are here. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Budd Boetticher western features Glenn Ford and "Creature from the Black Lagoon" object of desire Julie Adams, "The Alamo" co-star Chill Wills, "Zorro" star Guy Williams, Hugh "Wyatt Earp" O'Brien and Victor Jory, the man with the deep, deep voice. There's lots of action as Ford plays the only man to leave the Alamo (he had good reason and drew lots with 4 other guys to see who'd go) before Santa Ana wiped everyone out. He's universally despised and branded first as a coward, then as a collaborator as he searches for the outlaw collaborators who killed his family and the families of his friends (he left the Alamo to protect them). Good cast, good direction but a so-so script leaves this in the catagory of "standard western". Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
