Claudia Puig FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) It could almost make for a true crime miniseries because it's so tautly constructed and informative. Oct 21, 2023 Full Review Jonathan Romney Financial Times There’s enough material here for an extended true-crime mini-series, but Kim crams it into a dense 98 minutes. Much of it will feel borderline impenetrable for non-specialist viewers. Rated: 2/5 Sep 11, 2023 Full Review Leslie Felperin Guardian If you don’t know anything about it, this film offers an exemplary walkthrough of the facts... Rated: 3/5 Sep 5, 2023 Full Review Q.V. Hough Vague Visages “Kim mostly hits the mark with ‘Man on the Run,’ even if some of the Adam McKay-style filmmaking choices don’t land particularly well.” Jan 17, 2024 Full Review Sabrina McFarland Common Sense Media The cost of high-end living takes center stage in this formidable documentary about the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) financial fiasco. Jan 17, 2024 Full Review Pat Mullen POV Magazine Visually and aesthetically, the documentary fits the mould of a Netflix true crime thriller comfortably, but it’s a formula that audiences have seen many, many times before...On the other hand, it’s a formula that works as brisk, informative docu-tainment Jan 15, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Hilda A It's so well put together and informative that it could almost pass as a true crime miniseries. A well-done documentary capturing a wild, real-life story. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/11/24 Full Review K F Pretty annoying for two reasons: 1) it move too fast for the amount of individuals, places and organisations they are rattling off. 2) Is it a book or a film? Contemporary doc makers REALLY need to lay off how much text they load onto the screen. If I wanted to read about it I'd buy the book. Couldn't finish the movie because there was no common thread to mechanism to anchor the movie, ie. it needed a narrator you could trust to tell you the story, or a common repetitive method to telling you the facts; instead, it's more like an internet search with lots of differing stories, styles, fonts and sources. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/31/24 Full Review Scott W Quite a tale . Interesting for sure Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/29/24 Full Review Michael W This crime documentary was really good. The entire crew did a fantastic job on bringing this crime story to life. The man responsible, Jho Low, was just another greedy and selfish person that would do anything to get what he wants even if it means breaking the law. He took advantage of many people including celebrities and politicians to embezzle money for himself. Now he's in hiding and that tells viewers that he's a coward and he'll never do the right thing. If you haven't seen this documentary yet, check it out sometime. It'll show you what greed does to people. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/10/24 Full Review Karl S A crazy look under the hood of how fraud at the highest levels of government was staged and then pulled off, "Man on the Run" is both impressive for its access and storytelling. How two people brazenly stole hundreds of millions of dollars from their own country, flaunted it publicly, and even got so far as funding the Martin Scorsese film, "The Wolf of Wall Street", which was ABOUT CORRUPTION -was as baffling as it was fascinating. But beyond the villains - the story also did a fantastic job of illustrating the cost. The financial burden they put on an entire country for their actions juxtaposed with the everyman's desire to just be able to live was beautiful, heartbreaking, and ultimately a very strong call to action for accountability. Absolutely worth the watch, and a VERY relevant film no matter where you're from. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/10/24 Full Review Amir Hisyam M A one-sided story based on hearsay without concrete facts. Waste of time. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/24 Full Review Read all reviews
