The uneasy mix of the real and the imaginary, the trying to inject drama, and the swelling background music, renders the film less effective than it could have been, despite its inspiring subject, and its fine actors.

Even an actor as accomplished as Nawazuddin Siddiqui seems to have given in to the shrill tone of the film, turning in what is perhaps his weakest performance so far in what should have been a meaty role.

"Manjhi" is one of those movies that is designed to be immensely inspirational. I enjoyed this empowering story about determination and persistence. It will encourage you to face any obstacle you may have in your life. The movie's unbelievable true story is powered primarily by a great lead performance by Nawazuddin Siddiqui. He truly becomes the lead character and does a convincing job playing him at various ages. It's a great biopic with an interesting story and strong messages. It is a powerful movie that is certainly worth checking out.

If anyone is looking for power of the spirit, this movie does a job like nothing else.. When the person at the helm is someone with a solid foundation, the movie turns out exactly the way it is meant to be, this being being an example.. Though it had a few touches of usual bollywood flavor, but the essence of the movie did not go anywhere, which is what is witnessed through the acting of Nawaz, Radhika, and the likes..

Awesome Biopic but could have done more. Manjhi's determination was close to madness, the journey we were shown was a significant one for the actions he took and others reactions to it. The movie shows us a very different & realistic view of rural backwater India, touching lots of sensitive issues and practices but not getting muddled with them. Nawazuddin Siddiqui gives a brilliant performance, really gets into the skin of the character. Felt the story, script & acting deserved better production values, also felt there was much more scope in squeezing the many emotional scenes. Ketan Mehta does a good job of direction just it could have been much better.
