Thomas "Babe" Levy (Dustin Hoffman) is a Columbia graduate student and long-distance runner who is oblivious to the fact that his older brother, Doc (Roy Scheider), is a government agent chasing down a Nazi war criminal (Laurence Olivier) -- that is, until Doc is murdered and Babe finds himself knee-deep in a tangle of stolen gems and sadistic madmen. Even his girlfriend, Elsa (Marthe Keller), becomes a suspect as everything Babe believed to be true is suddenly turned upside down.

Filme fraco, o roteiro é fraco, as cenas são fracas, a história é fraca, o elenco é fraco, e ninguém ajuda a melhorar o filme, os personagens são fracos, e o filme deveria ter cenas bem melhores e relevantes, para fazer o filme ser bom

John Schlesinger directs with razor-sharp precision and a keen sense of dread. The film’s blend of paranoia, moral uncertainty, and bursts of violence captures the essence of the decade’s finest American filmmaking. And Sir Laurence Olivier? He’s the perfect nightmare — cold, elegant, and utterly terrifying. His presence alone freezes the blood. A masterclass in 1970s thriller filmmaking — gripping, sophisticated, unforgettable. And one thing’s for sure: after this film, you’ll never look forward to a dentist appointment again.

What can I say Dustin Hoffman just ranks on top in this movie. People say action hero and the last actor you would ever think of is Dustin Hoffman yet that is exactly what he is in this movie. You just have to see it to believe it. The only thing I can’t believe is that he didn’t win an Oscar for this role. The man can just act and act he does. I haven’t seen any movie of his that I didn’t like 👍
