Today, I watched what may be the worst Gene Hackman led movie I have ever seen. March or Die (1977). Hackman was decent in a really bad movie. I can't recommend it even though Hackman is in it. I give it a 5.4 out of 10.

Anything GENE HACKMAN is in is good. Altho this was a bit slow in parts, it was an interesting historical epic, which movies hardly attempt anymore. TERRENCE HILL & CATHERINE DENEUVE were good. Not a commercial for joining the FRENCH FOREIGN LEGION. NEVER saw it before on free TV THE MOVIE CHANNEL, 8-2020

With Sydrow, Hackman, Deneuve, and Hill, you've got a great cast. The interplay between Deneuve and Hill is humorous, poignient, and romantic and carries the film. But it's not actually a war film, for there's only one battle and it's at the end, but more of a character study of the harsh reality of soldiering in the French foreign legion, an army in which the soldiers are beholden to it not France. If you were looking for a lot of killing and action, you've come to the wrong place. But if you want a well told story, witty dialogue, and good acting, this is the movie to see

Rather predictable "protect the fort from the enemy" movie. You get the usual company misfit, hard hitting commanding officer, company bonding, and a love interest. Gene Hackman is good, but does not excel. The final battle scene is well done and intense. Not historically accurate, but then again it's not a documentary.
