Alejandro A May 20 Unbelievable, finally a spanish comedy that I didn't dislike. Good ideas, a well developed and curious story (it declines a bit at the ending) and there are some jokes that I really liked (thanks god)(and thanks russian kid). Not amazing, but enjoyable. Mari(dos) intenta apoyarse en el contraste entre sus protagonistas y en la clásica fórmula de "pareja dispareja", con algunos momentos cómicos que funcionan... y muchos otros que se quedan en tierra de nadie. Se nota el intento de hacer una comedia amable y accesible, pero todo se siente bastante superficial. El mayor problema está en lo irregular que resulta el conjunto. Hay escenas que consiguen arrancar una sonrisa, pero en general la película va dando tumbos, sin ritmo y sin demasiada chispa. El guion juega con situaciones forzadas que hemos visto mil veces, y aunque los actores se esfuerzan, no hay demasiada química ni inspiración en los diálogos. Eso sí, como curiosidad, llama la atención que el hospital que aparece en varias escenas es el mismo edificio que se utilizó como hotel en El hotel de los líos. Son esos pequeños detalles los que acaban siendo más entretenidos que la trama principal. En definitiva, Mari(dos) cumple como pasatiempo rápido, de esos que ves sin pensar demasiado y olvidas al salir del cine. Tiene alguna que otra gracia, pero no logra destacar ni dentro del género ni dentro del cine comercial reciente. (ENGLISH) This is one of those films that doesn’t offend, but doesn’t leave much of a mark either. Mari(dos) leans on the contrast between its main characters and the classic odd-couple formula, with a few funny moments that land… and many others that fall flat. You can sense the intention to make a friendly, accessible comedy, but everything stays on the surface. The biggest issue is how uneven it feels. Some scenes manage to pull out a smile, but overall the film stumbles along without much rhythm or spark. The script relies on forced situations we’ve seen a thousand times before, and while the actors try their best, there’s not much chemistry or punch in the dialogue. One curious detail, though: the hospital shown in several scenes is the same building used as the hotel in El hotel de los líos. It’s the kind of trivia that ends up being more fun than the main plot. All in all, Mari(dos) works as a quick, forgettable watch—something to have on in the background when you don’t want to think too hard.
