What to Know

Critics Consensus

Marigold attempts the difficult trick of combining Bollywood movies and American rom-coms -- and ends up with an awkward blend that will satisfy fans of neither.

Shubhra Gupta The Indian Express [Willard] Carroll tries to be warm and affectionate towards Indian culture and Bollywood, but the film is riddled with clichés. Jun 5, 2019 Full Review Namrata Joshi Outlook Larter is just about average. Salman hasn't looked worse, with a plastic smile, a faraway look and a fake, incomprehensible accent that forces one to demand subtitles. Rated: 1/4 Jan 25, 2019 Full Review Anil Sinanan Times (UK) Although intended to celebrate Bollywood, this Marigold smells suspiciously of trying to cash in on the current global obsession for all things Bollywood. Oct 24, 2017 Full Review Brian Orndorf DVDTalk.com It seems the only thing worse than a faulty culture shock comedy with zero charm is a faulty culture shock comedy with zero charm starring Ali Larter. Rated: F Jul 29, 2008 Full Review Frank Lovece Film Journal International It's all dizzying, but what a delight. Aug 21, 2007 Full Review Michael Dequina TheMovieReport.com Salman Khan is one of the big names in Bollywood whose appeal continually eludes, and here he simply proves that he is just as much a bafflement in English as he is in Hindi. Quellen T.S I absolutely love this movie. It has everything that a romantic comedy would have, but also has the mistake and the capturing aura of a foreign film. The leads in this movie are absolutely perfect. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/07/23 Full Review Audience Member While the plot was a bit contrived and adolescent I felt it was never intended to compete with the beautiful music & dance anyway. I bought the movie's soundtrack album simply for the joyous and uplifting harmony that is attendant with Indian music of this genre. The dance sequences in the movie are quite enjoyable for the same reason. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member American Rom-Com meets bollywood. Despite not expecting much from this movie, I found it quite heart warming with a good slushy ending. It put a nice smile on my face. Worth a watch. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member A fine "feel-good" movie but a bit to cliche and predictable. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Not sure what I expected, but it wasn't bad. Not great-but enjoyable once I gave it a chance. I will take any reason to see India. :) Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Loved it - a fun introduction to the Bollywood style.
