Overblown in every possible way, The Marine is either so bad it's good or just really, really bad.

The Marine often feels like an oddball black comedy about a dysfunctional band of sociopaths, just masquerading as an action movie about one tough ex-Marine. Go to Full Review

Bill E Nov 17 I liked his muscles. That made the movie for me. See more @akjones Sep 5 Fantastic film ft the most humble kind big buff squared circle super star THE John Cena. I would change 1 thing. Not once did they dramatically say “and I’m a marine” missed opportunity to make it an absolutely five star banger of a film. See more Guri S Aug 27 I just watched the movie. I don’t get the hate. I loved it like classic from 2000s See more Landon J @Minxsykitty Aug 24 Seen an a recommendation of nutso action scenes and Cena goofiness, and didn't disappoint in those aspects. Enjoyable for schlock lovers. Worth seeing as a late night feature. See more BRizz 2 @TheMovieSearch Aug 7 The Marine, starring John Cena as John Triton, is an action thriller about a marine who returns home from active duty and takes a job as a security agent. But his peaceful life is shattered when his wife, Kate Triton (played by Kelly Carlson), is abducted by a group of criminals, forcing him to tap back into his military instincts to track them down and save her. The film has a lot of problems—especially being a WWE Studios production. WWE movies tend to lack polish, often feeling cheaply made or missing the depth and quality of traditional theatrical releases. But I will say that, even with its flaws, I did enjoy it. It was fun enough to keep me entertained and honestly something I wouldn’t mind rewatching down the line. It’s actually a decent action film that follows John Cena pretty closely and lets him shine in a way that fits who he is. This was one of his early roles, so the director really leaned into letting the audience connect with both Triton and his wife. Unlike some of Cena’s later movies where it feels like he’s being overbooked or thrown into scenes just because of his name, this film actually gave him room to build the character. It has its moments—some over-the-top action, a few cheesy lines, but enough tension and pacing to carry it through. I definitely recommend checking it out. It’s not a masterpiece by any means, but it’s far from a bad movie. See more Raymond C Jul 15 A fun and over-the-top action movie. See more Read all reviews
