Audience Member loved this documentary. hilarious watching this pint size preacher learning at a young age how to fleece the sheep. his biggest success came in america's southern states which is unsurprising as these states have the lowest scholastic level and are hotbeds of religious zealotry. as for gortner's movie offerings - don't bother. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review harry r What everyone misses is that he is using the ill gotten skills he learned from his awful parents today to make money in the movie industry. You have all been taken in just like the Christian audiences he preached too. He has no respect for anyone who is religious and thinks they are all like his parents. I have met people that are equally dishonest in all professions and faiths. Does that mean everyone in all professions and faiths are a fake? No! Sadly, we can point out a whole lot of people that are. Worse, we lump the good people into that same bucket because we don't believe they can be that good. That speaks worse about you and him than it does about those good people. I have met wonderful people in all professions and faiths that have truly good moral ethics. He does not. He just substituted his ill gotten skills from one lucrative profession to another. Luckily, it did not work out as great as he had expected. I hope it did not work out because many people were like me and saw the ingenuineness in his actions and speech. Those that promoted him only wanted to use him for one thing, to destroy religion. We can see that many of those tactics he talks about are still used today. The most famous is Jim Baker and Tammy Faye. You think a child from them would be any different? When you have con artists as you parents, the only thing you know is the con. All professions have it, we see it in corporate annual reports every year. Which ones are truly good. Bet you cant pick them out. This documentary truly made me ill seeing the scam portrayed and people don't realize he is still doing it in other ways. He knew he was a fake and he still continued to preach as he got older. How many people did he mislead and then he has the gall to point the finger at other preachers. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review delysid d The LORD told me to watch this film! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/17/20 Full Review Audience Member Insightful and disturbing story of a conman who takes you behind the curtain. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member A preacher who was exploited by his parents as a child, shows a docu crew the tricks of the trade. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member A fantastic portrayal & expose of Marjoe Gortimer, a household name in North American South as a Child Preacher & was ordained as a minister at 4 years old & married a couple at 4 and half. This film follows Marjoe's return to the preaching circuit & his phenomenal success with the Christian Tent Revivals. Although clearly corrupted by money he had an electrifying charisma & ability to communicate & hook the masses. He seemed to have some dignity at the end but fooled many, an interesting documentary on a clever conman. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
