Lisa Kennedy New York Times Vidor brings a humane yet grounded aura to Anne, one that feels lived. Dec 9, 2024 Full Review Mick LaSalle San Francisco Chronicle What we get here is no more real than a Hallmark card, except that it’s a different kind of Hallmark card, one in which Mary has to jump off a roof to escape a burning building and Joseph (Ido Tako) gets into sword fights. Rated: 1/4 Dec 7, 2024 Full Review John Anderson America Magazine The results aren’t disrespectful, just a hodge-podge, a sort of overly reverent sword-and-sandals epic rich in awe-struck characters, Luciferian mischief and historical opportunism. Dec 7, 2024 Full Review Wade Major FilmWeek (LAist) The problem here is that it's neither biblical nor scholarly. Jan 17, 2025 Full Review John Serba Decider Likely fearing a stumble into the deep end of Lake Blasphemy, Caruso errs on the side of humorlessness, which pushes proceedings into the realm of overbaked melodrama. Dec 21, 2024 Full Review Rachel Wagner Rachel's Reviews (YouTube) The changes they made to the story were intriguing and drew me in. G P Beautiful story. So glad that movies like this are being made again. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/21/25 Full Review SkyRo P Mary mother of Jesus, 2024 Netflix release and this is a different interpretation. This is Mary story this is her story from her childhood until she’s chosen by Gabriel and she is destined to carry Jesus and then her battle to keep him alive as a child. This was artistically done and very creative directed and a very cinematic tail, this actually could’ve been something that could’ve been released during the Eastern time and been presented in theaters rather than just simply in streaming service on Netflix I think this movie had everything it takes to live up to the expectations of a cinematic film. The actress and the actor playing Mario and Joseph did a fantastic job and it was nice to see Anthony Hopkins on the screen as always, but he’s definitely the bad guy once again in this film, and I think ultimately that this film presents itself the way I needed to just in time for the Easter holiday and I really do think that people should check it out because it’s actually very well done and very well rounded. It’s simply a simplistic film with a Intense biblical reference that is absolutely intense and wonderful to watch. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/20/25 Full Review matthias s Finally crossed *Mary* off my watchlist this Easter—seemed fitting, right? As a fan of epic Bible tales, I was hoping for something stirring. Instead, I got *Dune* in sandals, minus the spice and the thrill. The whole thing looks like it wants to be profound, but it's just... dull. And don’t get me started on the birth of Christ—no magic, no awe, not even a hint of biblical wonder. It felt like the director skimmed the Bible and thought, “Eh, close enough.” Visually polished, sure, but soul? Nowhere to be found. Not epic, not inspired, just disappointingly flat. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/20/25 Full Review Robin C This movie is so offensive to biblical truth and I am disappointed yet when I found out Joel Olsten was involved i now know why. Shameful ! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/08/25 Full Review Sam A A refreshing take on Mary. Very brilliantly done Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/26/25 Full Review Chris A Amazing movie very well done Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/21/25 Full Review Read all reviews
