That is a large cast, and just telling their story, albeit fleshed out by series creators Gene Reynolds and Burt Metcalfe, along with writer/producer Larry Gelbart, makes for a well-paced documentary. Go to Full Review

Kevin L @Lakeman 01/07/2024 Yeah, didn't they already make one of these years ago? The Stevenson and Rogers footage of them talking with regret about leaving the show, or their dubious mindset at the time, must've come from some doc or the like. Or maybe some source like "Entertainment Tonight". I've seen some of these segments/inteviews before. Overall, pretty insightful and thorough review of the show and its significance for television and entertainment culture. It was clearly a series full of a very warm, loving cast. Writing, directing, producing and acting were all such quality at its best. I was indifferent to Col. Potter (Morgan was way more entertaining as the loony general he played in an earlier season). I became annoyed and bored w/ BJ and his letters from Peg (and his acting- more smarmy than funny). And I rather loathed Charles Emerson Winchester, III. So to be honest, I skipped through much of those segments. Burghoff is great in reflecting on specific key moments but also on what worked well and what didn't, and how organic it all became. Good insight as well from Reynolds, Gelbart, and Metcalfe. The editing was done well, leaving us with points and stories that concentrate on what made the show unique and highly rated more than talk about grievances, money issues, technical snags, etc. For those younger viewers not so familiar with the show, or older fans who haven't seen some of the older interview footage here, this is a very fine introduction or reflective overview of the series. 3.6 stars as a doc that is all new to the viewer. 3.3 stars if you've seen some of this material/content before. This show not only highlighted the characters, but also the actors and the writers and creators that made MASH so different from other television. If you are a MASH fan, this is a must see.
