Jay W "Mask of Zorro" is...such a cool movie. Man, what a great film. Directed by Martin Cambell, the director of the two best Bond movies, Zorro is a tight, sleek, handsome action-packed movie. It completely reinvigorates a long dormant franchise and can work as both a reboot and a continuation of original Zorro continuity. It isn't winking at the camera acting like they are better than the silly source material, but it also isn't overly dark and serious. It is like the movie knows exactly what parts they can fast forward in order to get us to all the best parts. The hero villain pairing in this film is some of the best I've seen. The villains are despicable, have a personal rivalry with the hero and face off on multiple occasions. Anthony Hopkins does a great job in his role as always. Antonio Banderas is perfect for the role of Zorro. And Catherine Zeta Jones...might be my favorite part of the movie. I will not elaborate on that, she just is. The action scenes are excellent. The sword fighting in this film might be the best I've ever seen. The horseback chase is one of the best chase scenes I've ever seen. The opening is one of the best, the ending is one of the best. What more can I say, this movie is...one of the best! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/21/24 Full Review Gordijn M Timeless classic with strong cast and good acting. Anthony Hopkins is in his prime and so is Antonio Banderas. Very epic story about an iconic Mexican symbol. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/05/24 Full Review Audience Member Tremenda obra maestra 20/10 y god Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/15/24 Full Review Shay C Such a fricking good film. I know it's cliche to say, but they really don't (read can't) make them like this anymore. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/21/24 Full Review Anderson O The Mask of Zorro has stood the test of time as a timeless part of Mexican folklore and fantasy history. Movies and and TV has help it transcend its original origins in Novel and continued on in Comics. This movie stands with action/ adventure movies before and after its time. With an amazing cast and stellar performance, action set pieces, custome designs, settings and musical score makes The Mask of Zorro legendary to its core , and puts major symbolism behind the lore that has captivated generations. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/22/24 Full Review Alec B The kind of immensely entertaining and competently made blockbuster I wish we were still getting on a consistent basis. So many things go right here from the casting to the fantastically choreographed fight scenes that it feels effortless. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/10/24 Full Review Read all reviews
