After being imprisoned for 20 years, Zorro -- Don Diego de la Vega (Anthony Hopkins) -- receives word that his old enemy, Don Rafael Montero (Stuart Wilson), has returned. The Mask of Zorro has stood the test of time as a timeless part of Mexican folklore and fantasy history. Movies and and TV has help it transcend its original origins in Novel and continued on in Comics. This movie stands with action/ adventure movies before and after its time. With an amazing cast and stellar performance, action set pieces, custome designs, settings and musical score makes The Mask of Zorro legendary to its core , and puts major symbolism behind the lore that has captivated generations.

The kind of immensely entertaining and competently made blockbuster I wish we were still getting on a consistent basis. So many things go right here from the casting to the fantastically choreographed fight scenes that it feels effortless.

What more could you want out of an exciting, swashbuckling period piece starring Anthony Banderas? Maybe a little less soap-opera-y-ness, and someone to help these poor actors learn how to kiss like normal human beings, but other than that, there's not much to complain about here. The story is weirdly interesting for how silly the movie is, and the stunts and choreography are refreshingly real and well executed. It's like the Fast & Furious of Westerns in the best way possible.

Antonio Banderas portrays the charming, mystifying dark masked avenger of the oppressed. This revenge story will keep you glued to the screen for the entire runtime with all the swashbuckling action. And it also has one steamy dance number.
