matthias s @Thescreenasvor May 22, 2025 *Matt Rife: Lucid* isn’t a stand-up special—it’s pure crowd work, so don’t go in expecting punchlines and polished bits. I wasn’t a fan of his last Netflix outing, but as someone who loves his short crowd work clips, this one was way more my speed. That said, most of the laughs came from the audience’s wild answers, not Matt himself. He’s sharp, quick, and thrives in chaos, but let’s not pretend this proves he’s a top-tier stand-up comedian. Fun time? Absolutely. But without such a playful crowd, it would've been a very different show. Entertaining, just not groundbreaking. 3 stars. We don’t care what you say. We buy the tickets. It’s not supposed to be a super smooth written special. It’s joking around with the crowd. Come on people, get with the program.
