Audience Member Mayberry Man is a very basic low-budget movie that lacks a lot of creativity. Starts off really boring and then moves on into ignoring a lot of the foundational storytelling elements that makes a movie good. Some of the scenes didn't make any sense and felt wildly out of place as if the writers thought the audience would understand the joke without any context. About halfway through, the main character goes into an unknown part of the town and I think to myself "Finally! Now it's getting into the point of the movie!" only for it to immediately derail from the creativity and go right back into this unimaginative storyline. There's no true character development for anyone, no stakes, no pay-off, no hero, no bad guy... Just a bunch of people awkwardly doing things that revolve around an event. I also get the feeling that most of the actors, besides the main character Chris Stone, aren't professional actors but people they found around town to play various parts. Overall: The main character wasn't relatable or even likeable, the supporting cast was annoying, the storyline was underdeveloped, the shots were random, and it lacked any creativity. Which is a shame because it could have been a great movie with some imagination. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/25/25 Full Review David R God awful movie which should be burned. I'm mad at Amazon Prime for making it available. Probably the only people who've seen this besides innocent Prime victims like me are those involved in the making of the movie. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/11/24 Full Review K W A very slow and uneventful movie. While some of the actors portraying the original actors of Mayberry were good, the acting throughout the movie was subpar and forced. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 09/21/23 Full Review Grim D We watched it and enjoyed it a lot. It is clean and wholesome. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/10/23 Full Review Greyson D This was a very wonderful family movie! Outstanding cast great writers and just a very well done lovely family friendly movie. If you like a classic TV show or movie in the days of very little to no profanity this is your kind of movie:) All the folks just did an awesome job! Good family movies can still be made today this is proof! Enjoy God Bless. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/10/23 Full Review Martin B Starts out with the arrogant, unlikable actor complaining his brother got more love from dad, a cliché then goes straight down hill careening toward a bigger cliche. Milking a TV show with characters that can't be imitated, the originals being so memorable trying desperately to create a plot that is the mother of all clichés for movies. The hard hearted, disconnected bitter whomever spending time is a community filled with warm genuine people experiencing an epiphany becoming a kinder, more empathetic person himself. I've see High School productions with better acting then that movie it almost caused me to swear off watching movies entirely. It's tough to blow a feel good movie but what they did to the memory of the Andy Griffith Show was a crime it was so bad. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 09/03/23 Full Review Read all reviews
