andy k A superb documentary, Mayor is well worth a watch Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Really engaging film. Surprisingly funny at times (literally laugh out loud).but more often rage inducing at the injustices of the Occupation and the unfairness for people who just want to be allowed to live their lives with dignity. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review dave d This is a harrowing look at the dire situation in Palestine mainly through the eyes of Musa Hadid, mayor of Palestinian city Ramallah. It's just unreal to live anywhere freely and not be free. I didn't know a lot about this situation, but by all accounts it's sad and mostly bleak. Let's hope for peace and understanding. This was a really good film that I'm sure it just touching the surface of what's happening. Final Score: 8/10 Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member If you are thinking of buying or renting this movie, do it, it is worth the price. David Osit does a fantastic job balencing tension with black comedy. It shows how the Palestinians are suffering under Israeli occupation with no bias towards the Israelis. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member This film staggered me. The ending made me feel things I couldn't put into emotions and I just stared at my screen for 20 minutes. Loved this film and will never stop thinking about it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member One of the most powerful documentaries I've ever seen. Osit does an exceptional job of capturing Ramallah through the daily life of the titular character, Mayor Musa Hadid, while at the same time creating an ambitious, often funny, and aesthetically pleasing film. Wendy Ide Observer (UK) Deft editing and unexpectedly affecting music choices make for an engaging portrait of the kind of impassioned and dedicated politician who seems in short supply right now. Rated: 4/5 Jan 10, 2021 Full Review Matt Turner Little White Lies Smart, yet somewhat one-sided and process-orientated portrait of a man and his municipality. Rated: 3/5 Jan 4, 2021 Full Review Tim Robey Daily Telegraph (UK) In its gently ironic way, the film depicts an urban centre keen to be treated, and run, as a genuine place to live, a town like any other. Rated: 4/5 Jan 4, 2021 Full Review Josh Parham Next Best Picture The imagery is disturbing but effective to accurately immerse one in this environment and feel what's really at stake in this fight. Rated: 8/10 Jun 5, 2022 Full Review Barbara Goslawski That Shelf Mayor is one of those brilliantly layered observational films that surge with vivid actualities - not necessarily a difficult task given that your subject is the lovable, impassioned mayor of a Palestinian city in the West Bank. Dec 2, 2021 Full Review Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com One can't help but wish that Osit would occasionally dig a bit deeper, though that's clearly not the intention here.
