Audience Member I thought this was great, McCullin himself is a great speaker with a very interesting history. Many of the pictures are incredible and speak to a great era of photo journalism. Not a groundbreaking documentary but really worth watching. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member We are really priviliged that the famous genius photojournalist Donald McCullin would sit down and tell us of this great stories behind his infamous war, humanitarian disaster and urban trife photos. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member For those who want to know better about one of the greatest all-time war photographers. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Excellent documentary for those with an interest in photography or not. It's pretty graphic in places which is to be expected given the subject matter. I'd recommend it though. It's available on Sky Arts at the moment. Ben Kenigsberg New York Times "McCullin" is not a groundbreaking documentary, but it wears its conventional format well, taking its cues (and its power) from the photographs themselves. Oct 29, 2015 Full Review Chris Packham Village Voice Famous for his war photography, McCullin's gift is his sensitivity, a capacity to feel the pain of other people that informs both the images he produced and the ones he refused to take. Oct 27, 2015 Full Review Derek Malcolm London Evening Standard He added lustre to a profession which, before him, was considered more of a craft than an art. Rated: 3/5 Jan 4, 2013 Full Review Adam Lowes CineVue McCullin offers a welcoming peak into the world of an artist who captured some truly devastating (yet beautiful) imagery, the likes of which offer a sobering respite to this glossy, media-saturated era. Rated: 4/5 Feb 7, 2019 Full Review Amy Taubin Artforum McCullin, who was nearly seventy-five when the documentary was shot, is an extraordinary narrator of his life and work. Nov 4, 2015 Full Review Michael Bonner Uncut Magazine [UK] Mixes recent interviews with McCullin with contemporaneous news footage and McCullin's own photographs, which have lost none of their power.
