"MDMA"... doesn't fully communicate the context of Angie's experience priors to the film, keeping us removed from the character and the movie as a whole. Go to Full Review

It's Wang's eye for social realities, brought to life by her cast, that gives her film its edge. Go to Full Review

First-time feature filmmaker Angie Wang blended her own experience in the illicit drug industry with fiction, crafting a story that lies somewhere in between. Go to Full Review

The redemption arc plays out with minimal subtlety or surprise, leaving the film's amusing period details as the only saving grace. Go to Full Review

07/27/2019 Fantastic, educational, deep stuff. See more 01/07/2019 Really amateurish acting and directing. Don't waste your time. See more 12/14/2018 I entered my 20s in the early 80s. This movie was captivating. It was an exceptional execution of a great screenplay. The performances were also top notch and the editing superb. Certain scenes are difficult but it never fell to anything approaching gratuitous and unnecessary trash typical of big budget theatrical releases these days. This movie is perfect proof that you don't need CGI and 100 million or ever 10 million to film a GREAT movie. See more 10/25/2018 Angie Wang is a dreamer and a realist - which perhaps is the reason "MDMA" is such a brilliant film. The glamour, isolation, and forgiveness told is an experience for all to see. MDMA is a movie that left me curious and hopeful for all who may be struggling with these issues today. If you have not seen this yet, I highly encourage it. Angie Wang is an outstanding director. See more 10/21/2018 I really enjoyed this movie. I can't wait for the prequel or series. This movie seems to offer just a glimpse into the entire story. I hope there's more to come in some kind of way. See more 10/21/2018 Forced by my girlfriend to watch and wound up enjoying thoroughly. Flawed, yes, but full of heart. Congrats to first time filmmaker, the "real Angie Wang" See more Read all reviews
