Critics Consensus

Me Before You benefits from Emilia Clarke and Sam Claflin's alluring chemistry, although it isn't enough to compensate for its clumsy treatment of a sensitive subject.

Shermie L Most horrible 'sad' movie I've ever watched. Saw it recommended to me online and honestly a waste of time. Didn't shed a single tear and the only thing I was thinking the entire time was how offensive this film was. Wouldn't even recommend to my worst enemy. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/29/24 Full Review Vili I I loved it and it made me cry so much and release a lot of emotion built up from the past few years during which I’ve been struggling with movement restriction and disability myself. As no one around me has been able to understand me or my feelings given my situation, I keep searching for something out there, something to connect to, relate to and to understand at least a little bit. I loved Clark as by heart I am like her. And a little bit like Will as well. Thank you to the actors and cast who made this movie based on the book by Jojo Moyes, which I also loved. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 10/27/24 Full Review azul u After reading the book, I love the movie more, I know what the typical movie of a very unfortunate love is, but I think it depends on what everyone liked. For me, it's a great adaptation and I love it completely Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/07/24 Full Review M C An amazing love story that teaches that life isn`t a fairytale. While there are some individuals who can soldier through it all, a thrill seeker like Will felt trapped in his body and struggled with the thought of going on this way. He loved Lou but couldn`t accept the reality. Having it broken down by someone in that situation in terms of routine, medication, personal care, recurring ailments and the day to day challenges gave me greater perspective on the obstacles Will faced in spite of his wealth. Emilia & Sam did a splendid job and people should view this as some peoples reality. Not everyone views the situation the same way and it is in no way encouraging people to end life. Every individual is unique. Louisa is the 5th/6th person the Traynors hired so they will have already explored mental health, counselling, etc. Ruim, culposo e perturbador. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/25/24 Full Review Richie L The dialog, acting and premise does not disappoint. The story becomes predictable, moves slowly, yet maintains tension--you care about the characters--an admirable balancing act. And there's no bad guys, other than fate. But it lacks a certain 'it' that I haven't quite put my finger on. Maybe a bit contrived? Whatever, it was worth watching. But not a must see.
