It really is painful, not only for the story line but as the movie goer. When we look back in history, a year doesn't seem so long but when you are waiting for someone to return from a war prison, it truly is forever. This movie portrays the decline that happens over time as one waits in hope and fear. War is just bad and this is another example of the many lives that get destroyed, not only the victims.
