Randall King Winnipeg Free Press It makes for a decidedly unique drama, mysterious and prudently erotic. Rated: 3.5/5 May 8, 2017 Full Review Norman Wilner NOW Toronto Menorca never really works. Barnard's script is a strange, fluid construction of ideas past their sell-by date, animated by characters who remain frustratingly underdeveloped... Still, Gillis keeps you watching. Audience Member Rough writing, thin plot. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Rather dull and monotonous, Menorca is a character drama about a woman going through a midlife crisis. The story follows a soccer mom named Claire who abandons her family and takes up a hedonistic life as a waitress at a strip club. Claire is kind of an interesting character and even somewhat sympathetic; trapped in a life she didn't want and feeling disconnected from people. And Tammy Gillis gives a fairly strong performance. But the plot doesn't really go anywhere and Claire doesn't really change or have any transformative revelation. Despite a promising start, Menorca ends up being pretty pointless. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member Just like a hitchhiker, Barnard knows where Menorca wants to go. He just has no idea how he's going to get there.
