Audience Member I’m not sure why this movie is rated so poorly, however it seems like it is people from Mentor trying to defend their town instead of rating the movie for what it is: an extremely sad story of when a school district fails to protect its children. It doesn’t matter where the school district is, what matters is how a school handles bullying and in this instance, this school failed miserably. This is such a heartfelt story about families trying to put the pieces together and figure out what they could have done, but there nothing more the family could have done. It is a sad, corrupt system if students aren’t able to go to school and feel safe. I’m a 4th grade teacher and there have been instances of bullying in my class and at my school, but it’s taken seriously and dealt with, not swept under the rug. Sadly, it’s something that happens, but that doesn’t mean you pretend it never happened or make excuses for the unacceptable behavior. I hope more people watch this documentary and rate it based on what the documentary is about, not the feelings they have to keep themselves and their community looking good. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/24/18 Full Review Audience Member Watch this movie, don’t get distracted, and pay attention. The fact is children, young minds are gone. Imagine your the parent. If it doesn’t light a fire under your rear...you have no soul. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 07/24/18 Full Review Audience Member A story happening all around American not only Mentor. The fact that the school did not even try too protect these kids is awful. Adults need too start being adults and not just ignoring problems, being there either too lazy or don't want too deal with it. Parents need too teach kids that if you don't try too help the one being bullied than your a part of it. I hope those kids making fun of the girls dress in her coffee feel real good about themselves today. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member In the four years I spent at this school I never once felt like my life or any of my friends lives were in danger. I don't see how it's fair to make the assumption that our school is a horrible, dangerous place more so than any others. And quite frankly I'm insulted by the entire thing. Mentor is an amazing school that provides amazing opportunities to all of it's students of all academic capabilities and all backgrounds; I'll never be ashamed of my high school. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member This is an incredibly biased, outdated, and one-sided "documentary." The filmmaker failed to take into account the administrative action taken after these events, which occurred in 2008. Many of the shots are not of the inside of the actual school, further proving that the filmmaker did not take the time to get the opinions of the current students. Had the filmmaker taken the time to get to know the community at Mentor High School and the city of Mentor itself, she would have realized that these tragic events have been learned from and are not commonplace.
