Lari U Visually impressing, but lacking in humor and seeming to take itself way more seriously than it has any business to. That something that was essentially Metalocalypse so long ago just isn't there. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/27/24 Full Review Hayden S It was a decent send-off to the series. Something I gave up hope on ever getting. It likely doesn't stand on it's own too well being a sequel to a musical following up a 4 season show from a decade ago, but as a long time fan of the show it was a fantastic send-off to the series. Thanks Brendan Smalls. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/01/24 Full Review Mitchell H Joyless, humorless and plodding.Sweet wrap up at the end, but a long wait for anything engaging. Just uninspired. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/16/24 Full Review D The soundtrack is awesome (duh), the animation was done extremely well. This was a great wrap up to the Metalocalypse series. Turn the volume up and rock with it Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/03/23 Full Review Zero One Z Finally an ending to the Metalocalypse 🤘🏻 and one of the best rock metal movies since Doomstar Requiem. I was genuinely worried that Dethklok would be sidelined, and relegated to being nothing more than comic relief with as little screen time as possible. I am a gear in the wheel of the Klok 🤘🏻 💀🕤 🤘🏻 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/07/23 Full Review Bob V Metal!! Need the show to come back what a great movie!! Nick Schager The Daily Beast Prepare to bang your head and raise your horns to what is surely the most epically metal release of 2023—and a satisfying conclusion to a gonzo parody par excellence. Aug 21, 2023 Full Review Brian Costello Common Sense Media The movie is full of silly sight gags that are pretty over the top. The exaggeration isn't so much mockery as it is a celebration of heavy metal culture, for all its bombast and fantasy elements. Rated: 3/5 Sep 6, 2023 Full Review Matt Donato IGN Movies Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar deserves to be met by deafening screams in favor of an encore. Rated: 8/10 Aug 29, 2023 Full Review John Serba Decider Army of the Doomstar doesn’t click on all cylinders like the best Metalocalypse episodes, but it’s nevertheless a worthy conclusion to a beloved cult series. Aug 25, 2023 Full Review Toussaint Egan Polygon Epic as a descriptor is thrown around too often as a hyperbolic compliment, but Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar rightfully warrants that description and then some. Aug 25, 2023 Full Review Andy Crump Paste Magazine If it’s hard to be a rock god, then it’s even harder to be a metal fan tasked with finding love, warmth, and empathy in a genre popularly and unjustly seen as lacking all of the above. That Small handily succeeds...is a black metal miracle. Rated: 8.0/10 Aug 24, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews
