An unassuming teacher, Jefferson Reed (Robert Townsend) lives and works in an urban area plagued by a tough gang. When a falling meteor hits Jefferson, he discovers that he has gained numerous superpowers. Encouraged by his father (Robert Guillaume) and mother (Marla Gibbs), Jefferson sets out, somewhat awkwardly, to become a crime-fighting hero. Admittedly I do like the basic concept of this movie & the comedy is there but The Meteor Man does suffer for not having a clearly identity as it doesn't knows it wants to be a old school comedic superhero movie or a mellow-drama.

This movie holds a special place in my heart. It's 2023 and I still reminisce about seeing this move as well as Hollywood shuffle and Foolish. Wasn't the best as compared to today's standers. But still a diamond in the rough...👏👌

Going by memory, it wasn’t that bad. To be worthy of just 22% good reviews. A nice movie about a community learning to stick together. Against crime, is what I remember.
