Doug N. @dis_doug Nov 30 Mickey Saves Christmas is a charming stop-motion animated musical Christmas special. The special’s plot centers around Mickey Mouse and his friends helping Santa Claus save Christmas, after Pluto accidentally causes Santa’s sleigh to crash and loses all the presents for the children of Hot Dog Hill. On their quest to the North Pole to help Santa, Mickey and his pals learn the true spirit of Christmas is celebrating the holiday season with friends and family. It is nostalgically animated in stop-motion that’s very reminiscent of the Rankin and Bass Christmas television specials like Rudolph, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, and The Little Drummer Boy. It even has cute and adorable songs that drive the narrative of the film. Although this Christmas special is nothing groundbreaking it honestly did not have to be in order to be delightful, and entertaining to watch. It does a splendid job at doing just that with classic Disney characters to engage people of all ages, and despite being quite short it has all the making a classic holiday special for families and fans of stop-motion animation to enjoy year after year. Santa Claus being a beagle is also strange, I don't think that's been done before. On the other hand, the message of the story is beautiful.
