Deputy Principal Colin (Grant Tilly) is taking stock of his life and not exactly loving what he sees. As he reluctantly applies for the job of principal, he recognizes that his home life has grown dreary, and his wife, Elizabeth (Dorothy McKegg), distant. One night the two throw a dinner party for four friends and, in a series of flashbacks, we come to learn that all in attendance have endured similar lives of material comfort mixed with spiritual emptiness.
