Ingrid C Apparently im wrong in my judgement when i dont downvote this movie, but i found very satisfying the bizarre characters and claustrophobic atmosphere. In my opinion this is the ONLY good part of this franchise. The acting was spot on and its funny because this is not what you expect from a horror movie. Bizarre and very moody piece. But don't listen to me people seem to hate it so you will probably, too. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/19/22 Full Review kevin c The giant bug mimicking humans is back on the loose as this film centres around a school teacher specializing in bugs and biology as she and a couple students are trapped inside the school with the deadly creature. Not nearly as good as it's predecessor, but it's watchable. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Alix Koromzay was a supporting character in the Guillermo del Toro original film and is the only returning character in this direct-to-video sequel. The sequel is also minus del Toro as director or co-writer, as well as fellow co-writer Matthew Robbins. Still, this sequel isn't that bad and has a reasonably similar feel to the original film, even if it's lacking the visual style of del Toro or the more clever of plot, which here involves the lab creates bugs sent out to kill the giant bugs from the first film have now evolved and pose a threat to humans themselves, having mutated into human form. Nothing great, but alright for doing some work while half watching the film. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Mimic 2 takes the basics of the first films and tosses them together in a plain creature-feature that doesn't quite get the same themes as the first. The cinematography tries to copy del Toro, but it misses, so you end up with a dim lit mess. The effects are below average, the story is small and forgettable, but the characters do stand out a bit more this time yet they're still not too good. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member It's against the law to have a fertile queen. When we last saw New York, we thought our heroes had killed all the genetically engineered insects that are large and can mimic their biggest threats. Well, some have survived and further developed. They start heading towards a local school where they are discovered by an Entomologist. She tries to save as many kids and locals from what appears to be an invasion of enhanced insects from the initial Mimic picture. "Subtle doesn't cut it with me." Jean de Segonzac, director of episodes from the television series Law & Order, Oz, Chicago Fire, Unforgettable, and Boss, delivers one of her few feature length films, Mimic 2. The storyline for this is awful and the acting is even worse. The cast includes Alix Koromzay, Bruno Campos, Will Estes, Edward Albert, and Michael Tucci. "I'm a wacko magnet." I found this on Netflix and was surprised I had not seen it. This film didn't have much going for it. The storyline was awful and the special effects were very mediocre. I really did not like the way the insects evolved. Overall, I'd recommend skipping this. "Not all of them died." Grade: D Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
