Waylon A When they said, claustrophobic thriller, they weren't lying. As soon as they're inside the blinds, I literally was on the edge of my seat the entire movie. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 12/15/23 Full Review Ant D Lots of singings. It was OK. At least, it was short! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/06/23 Full Review Vera A Story that needed to be told, how the workers do all the work and make all the money for these companies how they don't get what they need to keep them safe is what this is about! Well worth the watch Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review robert p The reason I give this film *3* stars, it's because I am clostrophobic and this film really got to me. It is a masterpiece of low budget filming and that's what makes it better, too many coal miners died from black lung disease from constantly inhaling coal dust. Oh, what the *heck* I am going to give this movie a *4* star review anyway!!!! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Was ready for a great rating but the finale totally sucked, at the height of the rescue operation, when you're finally on the edge of your seat sweating waiting for the next scene... it cuts to a future (or past???) scene and we never find out what happens, we can only assume, especially because it's not clear if their mourning previous miners from other operations, or the fellows in this expedition. Total bummer of an ending. The rest was fairly intense though and, despite the ending, worth a watch. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member This disaster movie will have you rivetted, it goes to highlight a dangerous and underappreciated job, but more than that it highlights the amazing bond that miners have between each other. I loved the fact that you really gel with the characters virtually immediately, so you become eager for them to survive the ordeal. You will get sweaty palms all the way to the end of it. Noëlle D. Lilley Chicago Reader Unfortunately, the film begins to lose its once-solid footing in the third act, leading to a rushed and disappointing ending. Feb 20, 2020 Full Review Brad Wheeler Globe and Mail Eddie Mensore has not made a masterpiece of the genre, but there's a poignancy to his gritty calamity tale that makes Mine 9 worth watching. Rated: 3/4 Aug 15, 2019 Full Review Glenn Kenny New York Times The movie's implication that the untenable conditions are just "the way it is" is complacent at best. Jun 27, 2019 Full Review Richard Crouse Richard Crouse Makes the most of its low-budget, relying on primal fears over big special effects to generate a sense of unease. Rated: 3/5 Jan 31, 2021 Full Review Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com One of those films that grabs you early on and never lets you go. Rated: 3.5/4.0 Sep 16, 2020 Full Review Roger Moore Movie Nation Everything you want an indie thriller to be - topical, regional, well-acted and harrowing as all get out.
