Critics Consensus

Miracles from Heaven makes the most out of an outstanding performance from Jennifer Garner, but it isn't quite enough to keep this faith-based drama from preaching to the choir.

Kevin Maher The Times (UK) Miracles from Heaven is manipulative, blunt, super-Christian propaganda that's dignified and deeply moving in its own way. Rated: 3/5 Oct 10, 2016 Full Review Sara Michelle Fetters MovieFreak.com To have it suddenly blatantly preach to the converted and to the converted alone is a missed opportunity of massive proportions, making watching Miracles from Heaven at all a serious waste of time. Rated: 1.5/4 Aug 15, 2016 Full Review Roxana Hadadi Chesapeake Family Magazine Miracles From Heaven aims for faith-based audiences, and its narrow focus keeps the film's message of possibility and positivity from wider viewers. Rated: 2/5 Aug 2, 2016 Full Review Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com The kind of film that will affirm the faith of believers yet even non-churchgoers will find much to love here. Rated: 3.5/4.0 Sep 16, 2020 Full Review Debbie Lynn Elias Behind The Lens Powerful, emotionally satisfying and uplifting, you'll leave the theatre with a smile on your heart and a belief in Miracles From Heaven. Mitchell S It's a great reminder of how God makes miracles happen, both on His own and through good people. It is sad, I'm not gonna sugar coat it. But it ends up being worth it. To top it all off, Third Day is in it!!!! :D Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/10/25 Full Review Aleksander B Another tear jerker for me. The story was amazing, acting great and some gorgeous cinematography! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 07/04/25 Full Review BRizz 2 Miracles from Heaven is one of the most beautifully written faith-based films I’ve seen. While not without its imperfections, the story is heartfelt, emotionally grounded, and incredibly moving. At the center of it all is Jennifer Garner, who continues to prove why she’s a standout in Hollywood. No matter the material, Garner consistently brings depth, sincerity, and grace to every role she takes on—and this film is no exception. Even if audiences are divided on the script, she remains the heart and soul of the story. The film’s supporting cast is equally charming, and the family dynamic feels both genuine and relatable. The relationship between Garner’s character and her daughter is absolutely gut-wrenching at times, especially as the story dives into the real struggles of childhood illness. What sets this film apart from others in the genre is its unapologetic embrace of faith. It doesn’t just hint at spiritual themes—it fully commits to them, showing the power of prayer, the strength of a mother’s love, and the miraculous ways God can work through others, including doctors and strangers. Queen Latifah also makes a memorable appearance, adding warmth, humor, and that unmistakable presence she brings to every role. Even in a smaller part, she’s magnetic and unforgettable—a true superstar in every sense. Overall, Miracles from Heaven is a touching and inspiring watch. It’s a strong entry in the genre of faith-based cinema, and whether or not you’re religious, the message of hope, love, and perseverance resonates. I highly recommend it to those looking for a heartfelt story with emotional weight and a positive, faith-driven message. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/30/25 Full Review Alfred Junior T Loved the story which shows evidence of God's miracles throughout life Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/23/25 Full Review Lucy B I love this movie so much! It is so sweet and the Christian elements of it are just amazing. An the fact that this is a true story makes this movie so much better. The acting is top tier, and the script is realistic. This is a wonderful movie, and I would absolutely recommend it! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/24/25 Full Review Alexander S Miracles from Heaven is an incredible true story that’s a safe choice for religious families who want to watch a heartwarming family film together. It may not be the most spectacular religious film, but it’s a very sweet and captivating story that resonates deeply with many religious believers.
