martin a A heartwarming gem of a film. An eccentric woman who's father had a whiskey recipe stolen from him buy a new company decides to approach a children's writer who writes about Miss Robin hood to help her break into the breweries safe and steal the recipe! But the police try to catch them, and in the midst of it all the writer resigns from his job, and someone new writes the new stories causing mayhem by adults and children who demand him back as the writer. A wonderful cast. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review r 9 It has its moments, but 'Miss Robin Hood' is mostly underwhelming. Margaret Rutherford (Miss Honey) and Richard Hearne (Henry) are both good, while it's cool to see James Robertson Justice and Reg Varney, pre-'On The Buses' of course, involved in their respective roles; albeit very minorly in Varney's case. The cinematography is impressive given the year this was released, but I just don't feel like the plot meshes all that well - it feels forcibly thrown together, without much logic. I guess they focused more on the comedy, which I can respect. Despite the short run time, I was happy to see the film end. Not for me. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Margaret Rutherford always creates an imposing character, as does James Robertson Justice, although he gets much less screen time here, but both are watchable. The plot however, if you can call it that, is weak and a let down, as is the comedy and a chuckle is hardly ever raised. The film title offers a lot more promise than the actual story delivers. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member All in all a rather pleasant short B movie from the British film vaults. Ok, plot wise, don't worry about it too much but just enjoy the performances of Rutherford, Sid James, Dora Bryan and the rest.
