      Critics Consensus

Miss You Already isn't shy about going for filmgoers' tear ducts, but its solid script and talented cast are often powerful enough to make up for its more manipulative moments. Read critic reviews

Enjoyed, but wow did I hate Drew's husband in this. So selfish and such a clod, couldn't open his mouth without me wanting to strangle him. I don't think I've screamed "shut up" so much at a fictional character in my life, and I'm sure he is meant to be likeable. The rest of the characters I liked, even though there was definitely flaws on all but Drew's. Her character is kind of too good to be true. It's a well told story of friendship and the devastation of cancer. Yes, I cried a little.

For the subject matter grittier than My Sisters Keeper, however towards the end it got a bit out of kilter losing some depth in exchange for light fluffy sentimentality. Not too sure about the slot machine catharsis either!

Miss You Already wrings its tears mostly with honesty and provides great performances from Drew Barrymore and Toni Collette who takes an unsentimental approach to her flawed character. The story is what's lacking here with nothing new to offer for the cancer movie mold. Rating: 66

Superb performances from Drew Barrymore and the always amazing Toni Collette shine in this emotional tale of life and friendship in the face of life threatening cancer. Emotional, emotive, funny and engaging. A real surprise.
