The first three quarters of this movie were flawless. Tackling pretty heavy topics from discrimination to sexual abuse to infidelity (and more), the whole story feels disturbingly inevitable. The film is ripe with symbolism and I imagine a second viewing would reveal even more. The monochromatic style and lack of dialogue (an homage to early silent horror films) add to the surreal and unsettling feeling. In terms of audio, there is very little score and most of what we hear is the unpleasant shuffling of feet or scrubbing of brushes. These droning sounds works to stretch scenes into feeling longer than they are, highlighting the slow pacing of the dark story we are being told.
Unfortunately, I felt that the end of the the movie got away from itself a little. The character's actions didn't really make a lot of sense and the whole scene felt out of place in the movie. A slower, more thoughtful ending would have been more appropriate. That being said, the movie is still fantastic and definitely worth a watch, if you can find it.
