Another beautifully animated triumph for Laika, Missing Link is a visual treat with lots of humor, plenty of heart, and even a little food for thought.

Kathleen Sachs Chicago Reader The film is sophisticated in its revisionist take on the adventure genre, introducing social and ecological concerns into the mix, though its irreverent humor is still accessible to children. Feb 19, 2020 Full Review Christy Lemire FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) The pieces are all there... [but] I kind of would have preferred to watch the making of the movie than the actual movie. Sep 27, 2019 Full Review Roxana Hadadi Punch Drunk Critics With its nuanced narrative and astonishing visuals, Missing Link -- meticulously detailed and thematically dense -- is another delightful offering from Laika. Rated: 4.5/5 Apr 16, 2019 Full Review Max Greene InSession Film Missing Link is fun, exciting, and beautiful to behold. Rated: B+ Aug 1, 2024 Full Review Calum Cooper Source (Scotland) Humongous scope alongside mesmerising sets, and a stylish harnessing of good old fashioned stop motion techniques allows us to feel the vastness of Butler’s ambitions and the enormity of the story. Rated: 4/5 Jul 14, 2024 Full Review Bianca Garner In Their Own League There is a reason I have a huge place in my heart for stop-motion animation as a medium. It could be the painstakingly crafted claymation, the heartwarming stories perfect for any demographic, the stellar voice casts, or all of that coming together... Jay W Liaka Studios is one of the best animation studios working in the game today. Stuff like "Coraline", "Kubo and the Two Strings" and "ParaNorman" are some of the best animated films around. They produce the most beautiful stop motion animation of all time. "Missing Link" continues their tradition of charming characters and beautiful visuals but falls short when it comes to its story. This belongs with "Box Trolls" as far as some of Liaka's lesser material. The story follows a sophisticated Bigfoot who calls himself Mr. Link, played by Zach Galifianakis. He is paired up with an adventurer named Sir Lionel Frost voiced by Hugh Jackman. A lot of the movie's heart and a good portion of its humor comes from the back and forth between Link and Frost. The characters are charming, memorable and brough to life well through the stellar animation and voice cast. On the downside, the story goes off a cliff as it approaches the final act. The ending of the adventure suffers from a lackluster villain and an underwhelming climax. I'm fine with the theme the finale presents, I just think it is presented in a clumsy manner. The movie may be not be Shangri-La, but it is still a pretty nice place. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/21/24 Full Review naim c The animation is awesome! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 10/13/24 Full Review Elias R Susan definitivamente es un personaje encantador y con Laika estoy más que fascinado 🫶 Muy buena historia ejecutada de una manera tan impresionante como lo es la técnica de Stop-Motion 🫶 Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/09/24 Full Review Andrew L Hugh Jackman voices Sir Lionel Frost, an explorer/hunter who is an amalgam of Indiana Jones and Sherlock Holmes. Frost's goal is to take Mister Link (basically Big Foot) to the Himalayas so he can reconnect with his people. It's a cute movie with many Abbott and Costello like moments. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/17/24 Full Review Blank F The show was hilarious 😆.
