Nick Schager The Daily Beast Regardless of the fact that, for more than half a year, Lucie’s fate was undetermined, Missing: The Lucie Blackman Case plays from the start like a non-fiction whodunit. Jul 26, 2023 Full Review Chris Vognar Rolling Stone At a lean 82 minutes, the film gets in, does its job, and gets out. If anything, it’s a little too even-keeled and efficient. Jul 25, 2023 Full Review Kat Halstead Common Sense Media A series of archive footage, reconstructions, and more recent interviews revisit the case of missing British tourist Lucie Blackman in this true crime documentary. Rated: 3/5 Aug 16, 2023 Full Review Marshall Shaffer Decider True crime aficionados who will soak up any content with a hint of intrigue might find Missing worth the watch. But even they might have to concede that the telling of this tale leaves a lot to be desired. Aug 3, 2023 Full Review Aidan Smith Scotsman I don’t watch many true-crime reconstructions, but reckon this one must be more sensitive and less sensational than some. Jul 31, 2023 Full Review David Reddish MovieWeb Though we applaud Yamamoto for a naked examination of a horror story and for eschewing the impulse to add any notion that Blackman and her family found justice, we also admit that we have trouble recommending this to most audiences for those same reasons. Jonathan E The detectives in Tokyo did a fantastic job solving thus case. Great documentary. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/07/24 Full Review Chadd J Was not the most engaging documentary, but I did like ending. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/21/24 Full Review Daniel N This true-crime film manages well to intrigue its audience and to give a fascinating insight into how crimes are solved. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/23/23 Full Review Dan R Another murder mystery documentary drops onto Netflix with 'Missing: The Lucie Blackman Case'. SYNOPSIS: 'It follows the turbulent and complex investigation into the killing of British tourist Lucie Blackman.' This is a heartbreaking case of the loss of a woman well before her time whose family suffered for over 18 months not knowing what had happened to their daughter. As a whole the documentary plays from the start like a classic non-fiction whodunit. A combination of archive footage, reconstructions, and more recent interviews revisit the case and dig deep into what happened to Lucie. A fascinating watch. 7/10 Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/05/23 Full Review Nancy S I'm giving 5 stars to a documentary about a horrific crime, but it was well done and to the point. I'm glad that sub-human is off the streets. How horrific for a parent to know such ugliness happened to their daughter, but at least justice was served. I loved the fact that the policemen continue to honor her memory. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/26/23 Full Review David F A solid Netflix documentary about a young woman who went missing in Japan. An interesting investigation with a conclusive ending. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/23/23 Full Review Read all reviews
