Critics Consensus

Cheap-looking, unfunny, and kind of sexist to boot, Moms' Night Out is a disappointment from start to finish.

Steve Davis Austin Chronicle Mom's Night Out is a movie only a mother could love. Rated: 1.5/5 May 15, 2014 Full Review Bilge Ebiri New York Magazine/Vulture If the concept of a moms' night out is premised on the notion that mothers can never get away for fear their families will collapse in their absence, then this movie cruelly confirms that fear. May 11, 2014 Full Review Kate Taylor Globe and Mail What ensues is frenetic and never as funny as it should be because directing brothers Andrew and Jon Erwin are not skilled enough at pacing the action and varying the volume. Rated: 1/4 May 9, 2014 Full Review Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com Very much intended as a celebration of motherhood. Rated: 3.0/4.0 Sep 17, 2020 Full Review Micheal Compton Bowling Green Daily News Being a mom is hard work. Having to sit through "Moms' Night Out" is even harder. Jan 24, 2019 Full Review Mae Abdulbaki Punch Drunk Critics One of those films you can't really hate on because it does try very hard to be likable. Ed R Worse than a Hallmark movie. Stupid plot, horrible acting and cheesy as it goes. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/16/24 Full Review Marina D I couldn’t make it through the first 20 minutes. It actually started off pretty well in the first 5 minutes, but the ‘comedy’ quickly took a turn for the worse. Yikes. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/15/24 Full Review donnie m i like that it's a movie a family can watch-funny without using the f word every 10 seconds or being sexual in a gross way Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/04/24 Full Review Michael B Way underrated hilarious, hip, thrilling, touching, and family-friendly; and not just for a Christian based movie! Most critics' complaints are how unrealistic the plot situation are (?!) but hellooo it's a movie and that's kinda the points as even most of the classics have unrealistic things happen, haha. My only complaint as with most faith centered productions is every character seems annoyingly well-off, therefore not relatable to the average viewer; but great movie and not just for a Christian movie! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 12/08/23 Full Review Norton F I've watched the movie at least 3 times and laugh and cry every time. Moms' Night Out proves they can still make good movies if they want to. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/18/23 Full Review suneha r Sarah drew's voice is so so irritating and why does she over acts so much. Looked so scripted cause of her.
