Danny Sinopoli Globe and Mail [Not] just the biography of a remarkable man, but a revealing meditation on the relationship between spirituality and art. Rated: 3/4 Jan 9, 2015 Full Review Betsy Sharkey Los Angeles Times Ultimately the documentary falls short of explaining why Vreeland not only made his choice but maintained it. Dec 11, 2014 Full Review Godfrey Cheshire RogerEbert.com An engrossing documentary about a privileged young American who leaves fashion photography to become a Buddhist monk in India, then returns to photography to provide some crucial help to his monastery. Audience Member I greatly value the philosophy of simplicity; however, there is something incomplete about this documentary...because we never discover the real inner motivations or outer influences which drove Nicky to study Buddhism....and the documentary seems somewhat hollow as a result. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review carley e Just a wonderful film about a Westerner who becomes a Tibetan monk and gives up his life of opulence and self-indulgence. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Incredible journey. Beautiful film. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member An absolutely enlightening and inspiring film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member An outstanding profile of an unusual life. It was an interesting portayal of someone making a connection with a path, and then finding a way to completely embrace and embody that path. This is a must see movie for anyone with an interest in ANY spiritual path. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member So good to see the journey of this man.
