Critics Consensus

Despite flashes of inspiration, the singularly high-concept Monster Trucks shows that it takes more than monsters and trucks to create a compelling feature film.

At times, Monster Trucks faintly echoes E.T., but it has all the grace of a jacked-up Ford F-150 with a four-link suspension and tractor tires crushing a row of cars by steamrolling atop them. Go to Full Review

Audiences could do (and have done) a lot worse than this genial throwback to a time when Kurt Russell was Disney's #1 living, breathing attraction. Go to Full Review

These elements are all well and good, but if you're above the age of 12, it becomes considerably harder to reconcile the sporadic tone-deafness. Go to Full Review

TODAY! TODAY! TODAY! The worst movie on four wheels! No adrenaline pumping action! Monster Trucks! We'll sell you the whole seat... to make it easy to take a nap! Go to Full Review

A by-the-numbers family friendly picture which is so harmless that it ends up being quite charming. Go to Full Review

It doesn't have any kind of poisonous message, and it doesn't contain anything that might be seen as offensive or derogatory. It just doesn't have much of anything else either. Go to Full Review

TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch 6d Monster Truck, starring Lucas Till and Rob Lowe, ultimately fails to deliver on the promise of its trailer. While the preview suggested a cute, dynamic, and potentially entertaining film, the final product is surprisingly dull and uninspired. The story lacks creativity, and the humor falls flat, often veering into overly corny and cheesy territory that makes it feel more like a made-for-TV Nickelodeon movie than a theatrical release. The screenplay is weak, with predictable plot points and unengaging dialogue that fail to capture the energy or excitement one might expect from a film centered around monster trucks. Even the performances of Till and Lowe, while competent, cannot salvage the lackluster material. The movie struggles to maintain interest, and its attempts at fun feel forced rather than natural. Overall, Monster Truck is a disappointing theatrical outing, lacking the charm, creativity, or entertainment value that could have made it a genuinely enjoyable family film. See more Wolfie G Sep 4 I haven't seen this movie in a while but I thought about it recently and had to write a review cuz GEEZE y'all are HARSH. I saw this movie in theater with my family, my little brothers were really into trucks at the time and my mom thought they'd like it, they were a bit young for it but I remember not wanting to go and being shocked how much I loved it. I'll definitely rewatch this when I have time! See more Jair K Jul 24 LOTS of fun, uplifting, and unpretentious with just enough of a touch of reality to engross you in the film. A rare, quality film with great actors that is a breath of fresh air - something we need more than ever these days. See more Greybrother D 09/13/2024 Turns out to be decent once it finally gets going. The oddity of it winds up being pretty superficial. Basically a greasy, countryfied take on ET with more emphasis on autoshop and car chases than the creatures, and occasionally a faint Tremors vibe somehow. Surprisingly formulaic and kinda' dumb, but fun and exciting enough in the second half to just about make up for it. See more darren j 07/11/2024 WOW everyones such a CRITIC! incredible... 🙄 and BAD ones at that! This movie is such a breath of fresh air from all the reboots and rehashes... I was sad i hadn't seen this and wondered why it wasn't a box office success cause has the energy of Transformers!!! The SFX are phenomenal yes PHENOMENAL! PLUS the adventure 80s throwback to that good old feel good romp thru the woods and town, chasing and running, all for that connection felt through different life obsticles and newfound friends. And what TRULY sets it apart was that bond between the protagonist and his #stepfather! It's ALWAYS grrrrr how bad the stepfather is and if he could only get back to his REAL father... Great representation of that and Danny Glovers characters certain restrictions while throughout never making big deals of either! I LOVED it !💥🔥💥🔥💥 See more Pedro Henrique C @Pedro2005 06/30/2024 It's not bad, but it's also not a masterpiece to watch because of their friendship. See more Read all reviews
