Stephanie Myers Common Sense Media The elements that have to do with Dallas dealing with his father's death and his anger about that loss are nicely done, but they're wrapped up a little quickly, with no consequences or explanations for some of his actions. Rated: 3/5 Nov 6, 2023 Full Review Carla Hay Culture Mix Completely awful on every single level, Monsters of California takes a mishandled detour from paranormal investigations of ghosts to hidden conspiracies about outer-space aliens. The movie's three vapid and annoying lead characters make everything worse. Oct 31, 2023 Full Review Aaron Neuwirth We Live Entertainment The way the film escalates into a bizarre conspiracy theory movie should be hardly surprising, but the choices as to how to go about this serve as a mask for some familiar but effective themes. An enjoyable enough venture from the guy at the rock show. Rated: 6/10 Oct 11, 2023 Full Review Sergio Pereira CBR While Monsters of California doesn't introduce anything new to the sci-fi genre and pales in comparison to something like Gareth Edwards' The Creator, it works as a breezy, entertaining feature that demonstrates DeLonge's aptitude. Oct 6, 2023 Full Review Chris Joyce Movies and Munchies (YouTube) Monsters of California has a promising idea at its heart, but it loses the plot and strays from what its title promises, tumbling into conspiracy theory retreads that don’t lead to any truth, or fun, out there. Rated: 2.5/5 Oct 6, 2023 Full Review Todd Jorgenson Cinemalogue Combining familiar coming-of-age themes, this throwback offers some scattered laughs and frights, but stumbles in trying to provoke a deeper sense of existential wonder. JP Campy, cute, sort of a deeper meaning somewhere in there, but lost in lackluster acting and humor which mostly fell flat. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/12/23 Full Review Kathy Surprise! Classic. Funny. Great aliens. It had heart and theres more to this story ? Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 10/07/23 Full Review evo g A fun movie with a solid message. Hopefully gains traction to more theaters as people should see this in theaters. It’s got a lot of everything, comedic toilet humor with a charm, family drama, some romance, and all thing paranormal. Tom DeLonge knocks it out of the park as the director and has a great soundtrack and score. Really enjoyed the movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/07/23 Full Review Steel L I think whoever wrote this thinks the more sophomoric sex jokes the better. Awful. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/13/24 Full Review paris f I forgot about this, so I'm watching several months after release, but I am pleasantly surprised. This movie slaps on all levels and the soundtrack gave a cool tone the whole way through. The actors acted exactly like my 19 year old son, some of the movie was super funny, and they did (what look to be) mid-level special effects is really cool ways to mask a lot of it and keep it visually captivating. Lastly, I'm only writing a review because I looked up the reviews and one dunce critic shredded this movie and blasted everything about it. I'm left wondering, what movie did you think Tom Delonge was making and where it fell short? This was a home run for me. Watch it. Prob throw this in a Halloween rotation for a while. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/24 Full Review MrSlothy Y Super entertaining! The score was amazing! And the plot was very fascinating! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/14/23 Full Review Read all reviews
