Audience Member 5/10: Surprise with the quality of this movie with its story and jokes. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member Avg at best. Leon Lai did surprisingly well here. But seriously, what were they thinking? It's hard to imagine the team from Infernal Affairs could possibly put together something so incoherent and confusing. Comedy? Drama? or Good old hk gangster movie? Make up your mind! Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Moonlight In Tokyo provides that long lost pleasure of experiencing something unexpected in Hong Kong cinema today, a case where form and content clearly is a mismatch and all the better for it. First impressions suggests a wacky comedy with some very non-politically correct humour based on the disabilities on the mentally retarded, but Moonlight In Tokyo soon travels down a completely different road, darker and far more involving than the genre should reasonably admit. The gags are surely there, but with so much empathy invested in Leon Lai's tragic character, you progressively find it pretty hard to laugh at them. Moonlight In Tokyo hardly breaks any new ground with it's ugly duckling/money can't buy me love-theme, but for their sense of surprise, I got Mak and Chong's backs. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member Background in Japan composed the movie to be more attractive, otherwise, a bit ridiculous ... hardly believe Leon acts as a person with mental problem except from his conversations. The theme song is beautiful. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member I actually didn't have high hopes for this movie but it was so much better than expected! I loved Leon Lai's character throughout the movie- the ending was kinda like..."ok, was THAT necessary???" but made it more dramatic- I never liked Chapman To but he made the movie a lot funnier and there was a really good friendship between him in Leon Lai. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Leon as a retarded gigolo.... actually convicting Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Read all reviews
