Ariya A Why is Nia Long's character wearing a hijab at home? Unless she was just about to step out. Too many stereotypes. Good script. It's annoying how strict some parents can be. It's not just a movie. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/02/23 Full Review Audience Member absolutely loved the message, the cast were fabulous and brought their characters to life. Really wish this would clarify many misconceptions about muslims as if opened my eyes. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member I thought it's going to be better than this. Andy Webster New York Times While its situations are more complex and less ham-fisted than those in many inspirational stories of reaffirmed faith, Mooz-lum...suffers from one-note characterizations. Rated: 2.5/5 Mar 4, 2011 Full Review Michael Rechtshaffen Hollywood Reporter Sensitive performances smooth out the dramatic rough spots of this well-intentioned, racially-charged drama. Feb 14, 2011 Full Review Kevin Thomas Los Angeles Times A potent feature debut for writer-director Qasim Basir, "Mooz-lum" attacks Islamist extremism while offering audiences a rare and illuminating depiction of life as a Muslim in America. Rated: 4/5 Feb 10, 2011 Full Review Ethar El-Katatney emel I cried because I saw pieces of my soul in a movie. It spoke to me; deeply. It's a movie that, on some level, I was thirsty for. And I hadn't realized how thirsty I was. Jul 21, 2021 Full Review Frank Wilkins Reel Reviews Poignant, relevant, and often quite moving in its characterizations. Rated: 3/5 Apr 4, 2011 Full Review Wilson Morales AOL Black Voices The film is worth seeing simply because of the phenomenal acting by the ensemble and a plot that will generate debate and interest once audience members leave the theater.
