Audience Member European based semi swashbuckler is fit only for a rainy afternoon when nothing better is on. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Pure Italian cheeseball cinema. This was your basic, by the numbers pirate flick studios made in the fifties and sixties to fill bills. Made cheap to fill cinemas and make a quick buck to capitalize on youth that loved pirate flicks. Overall, it looks good and it's an okay romp. Steve Reeves is easily the precursor to Arnold Schwarzenegger; but you can see where Arnie is much, much better. Reeves is all muscle and no charisma. At least the women are beautiful. The sword fights are pretty funny. Nobody can really fence and it's not in the budget to train anybody. When Reeves starts to look really bad as a sword fighter, he just punches people. Not a waste of time though, if you like pirate films. It's got a nostalgia charm, at the very least. Beware, though, like most films that came out of Italy and Spain at the time, they were dubbed (and not very well). Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
